Brand Creation & Ecommerce Web Development
Retail

Viking Covers supplies premium vehicle covers designed to protect cars, motorcycles, motorhomes, and other vehicles, such as lorries, tractors, and agricultural equipment, from the outside elements.

Working with several third-party manufacturers, Viking Covers can supply tailored covers for almost any vehicle type, make, and model.

Having previously collaborated with Matt, the owner of Viking Covers, on website and marketing projects for his other business, Viking Extrusions, he approached us to help bring Viking Covers, which was just an idea at the time, to life.

So, we got to work on a branding creation project to establish a solid brand identity and an ecommerce web design project to provide Viking Covers with a state-of-the-art platform to sell their products through.

Branding & Ecommerce Web Design

Project Objectives

For the Viking Covers project, we set out some clear objectives for the branding, user experience, and website that shaped our approach:

  • Create a brand identity that reflects the quality of Viking’s vehicle covers
  • Design and build a user-friendly ecommerce website that could support Viking’s massive inventory of 157,193 car covers and 21,243 motorcycle covers
  • Include a seamless and easy-to-use search function that allows users to quickly filter products to find the right covers for their vehicle.
  • Streamline the user journey by making call-to-actions clear, making the navigation intuitive, and making the checkout process smooth and issue-free.
  • Ensuring the website was fully optimised for mobile users – in terms of both functionality and performance

Here’s how we achieved these objectives and delivered a brand and website that perfectly matched Viking Covers’ needs.

End-to-End Brand Creation Services

Brand & Market Research

We started with the Viking Covers’ brand identity.

Matt, Viking Covers’ founder, wanted something strong and recognisable that conveyed the quality of their vehicle covers and would resonate with the wide variety of customers they wanted to reach – from classic car owners and motorbike enthusiasts to agricultural and industrial businesses.

Our Branding Specialists conducted detailed market research, mapped out Viking Covers’ national competitors in the automotive sector, and identified their brand strengths, styles, and trends.

This allowed us to create a modern brand identity that stood out from competitors, fit the industry’s themes, and reflected the quality of Viking Covers’ products.

The branding included a professional logo package with a few variations and logo marks, an easily recognisable colour palette, and other marketing collateral designs like business cards and branded vehicle signage.

User Experience Services

UX & Ecommerce Web Design

As with our website projects, we started by conducting in-depth UX research and wireframing.

With this being a completely new brand, our UX Specialists focused on Viking Covers’ competitors, analysing the strengths and weaknesses of their ecommerce user journeys to understand what their customers want and need from their website and customer journey.

From this research, our UX team created website wireframes to map out the website’s structure, showing where content, images, and calls to action will be placed, ensuring that UX best practices for design, usability, accessibility, and mobile optimisation are followed at every step.

Our UX Specialists spent a lot of time testing and refining content and call-to-action placements, creating clear and simple menus and product filters, and streamlining the checkout process to make the user journey as smooth as possible.

After presenting these to the client, we made a few final tweaks to the page layouts before handing the approved wireframes to our web designers, who used the newly created brand designs and colour schemes to create all the page designs and bring the brand to life.

Ecommerce Web Development Agency

Ecommerce Website Development

With the user journey laid out and the pages designed, the project moved into the development phase.

With over 178,000 product variations, our developers needed to ensure the website could handle all the available product options while meeting Technical SEO requirements for interactivity and page loading speeds.

Building product categories and search functions from scratch, our development team created a strong ecommerce website capable of handling a huge product catalogue while still maintaining SEO performance and allowing room to scale.

Using the UX wireframes and designs created in the project’s initial phases, our Web Developers also created an easy-to-use product filter that allows users to quickly and easily find covers that match their vehicle.

Once the website build was finished and approved by the client, we completed the project with some final UX, mobile optimisation, and pre-launch SEO checks to ensure everything was optimised and performing as it should be.

The Result.

Matt and his team were thrilled with the results of Viking Covers’ brand creation and website projects.

The brand and website design perfectly showcase Viking’s product ranges and quality. The website’s simple navigation, advanced search functionality, and streamlined user journey ensure customers can effortlessly find and purchase the right cover for their vehicle.

With a solid entry into the market, Viking Covers is now exploring a full marketing strategy to drive high-intent organic traffic to the website and increase brand awareness and sales through a series of paid search and paid social campaigns.
