Why Not All Marketing Is Right For You.

Marketing Lead Generation SEO Reading Time: 2 minutes

Through your career, you’ve probably heard the term ‘quality over quantity’. Well throughout the world of business and marketing it’s so fast paced that businesses really struggle to find time to know what is best to do, in terms of marketing efforts to grow their business. Trends change so quickly and other priorities take over, so it becomes a ‘when I find time’ strategy.

Just because it works for them, doesn’t mean it will for you.

It’s all too easy to get distracted by what other companies do. Back in about 2014, digital marketing became extremely experimental where you had every company in the world started social pages, blogging, adverts, ebooks, whitepapers and so on.

Quite simply, that was 5 years ago. Things have moved on and so should you. There are now tonnes of statistics out there to help determine the best marketing strategies for your business.

Just because your competitor has a Facebook page with 20 likes and 1 decent post a year going out, doesn’t mean you should start making one.

Sometimes we meet business owners that are absolutely transfixed on starting up pages on every social platform or commit to writing their life away with 10 blogs a month. Nowadays it’s about what will make your business grow. Don’t just follow what everyone else does.

Trust me, you’re setting yourself up to fail.

So, what should I focus on I hear you say?

Focus your marketing around Value

Adding value to your customer’s experience is vital and this can start as soon as they see your brand for the first time. Whether you’re giving away some information to become an industry resource, or giving them a free consultation, it gives you a great opportunity to add extra value to their experience with you.

You can also add value to your own business. As a busy business owner, your time is best spent running your company. You know it better than anyone. By eliminating marketing that isn’t going to add value to your business you will not only improve your engagement and leads, but also build a much better relationship with every person that sees your brand online.

Let’s be honest, it’s the worst experience ever when you come across an amazing looking business, love their website and then look on their social media and they have 7 likes (probably the owner and his friends) and 1 post from 5 years ago. Not only does it look lazy, it makes the whole experience less credible.

Moral of this whole story… Focus on what is right for you and don’t just do something because everyone else does.
