Prize winning Adam’s digital agency is up for another award
BUDDING businessman Adam Smith hopes his story will inspire other people to set up their own company.
The 22-year-old, of Fareham, set up Damteq Solutions, when he was just 17.
Based in premises in Segensworth, Fareham, the firm is a digital agency which does marketing design and helps business grow through extra marketing.
He said: ‘When I was 16, I left school and started to think about starting my own business. I had the skills but at such a young age, it was very difficult to get interest from other businesses.
‘I got a job in retail, which I only left four months ago, and I was working up my ideas in my spare time.
‘When I was 17, I got the opportunity to do a website design for a driving school.
‘Then the business slowly started to grow.’
His business has grown at a quick rate, only four months ago he was looking after a few websites.
Now he hosts the websites for 163 firms, and the majority of his customers are in healthcare field.
‘I think I have been successful because I work until 10pm,’ added Adam.
‘Businesses get busy and the last thing they want is to speak to me during the day when they’re rushing around.
‘I think that is why, I give them the time they need.
‘To begin with, the businesses come to me for a website design but I do offer much more than just that.
‘They can come to us for all aspects of designing for print, for example brochures and leaflets as well as design for web.
‘I want to encourage other young people to do what they want and be different.
‘Every business has to have a unique selling point which helps them stand out.
‘That is what young entrepreneurs have to try and find something that makes them different.’
Adam won the RAR recommended digital agency for design and digital media in November and has short listed for a website hosting award. He’ll find out at the end of the month if he picks up the prize.
